Raid on Nyuki In the quiet still of the night, beneath the moons of Gor, a small fleet of raiders made its way to Schendi Point from the Thassa. Cloaked by darkness they descended down the Kambra River, and to Lake Ushindi, to silently stalk the city of Nyuki. The raiders circled the outskirts harbor like a black crescent moon, carved of wings of sails. The main body of the small fleet formed silently into two staggered lines, each ship free to fire at either port or starboard sides. As the ships closed in, the men manning the catapults light the bundles of tar coated boulders and one by one launch them into the warehouses just past the docks not aiming to strike the ships. The harbor was still, unsuspecting, as the flames descended onto their targets, drawing the Nyuki dockhands to concentrate on defense. The raiders cranked back the handles of the catapults as other men scrambled to load them once more with jars of pitch. Small skiffs were lowered into the warm southern lake water, heading for the ships anchored on the outermost section of the now awakening harbor. As the small band of raiders neared the first ship for the taking, they boarded it quickly, knocking the crew into the waterway and trying to get it out of port. However, the ships crew of Nyuki stood strong and knocked them into the waterway. The raiders ships slowly circled and came again across the harbor, each launching the starboard side catapults into the warehouses. The raiders crew concentrating on *acquiring* the Nyuki ships, maneuvered the long boat to the other side of the ram. The crew climbed aboard the medium ram and swept the men to the water, to take over command of the Nyuki ship. The port was now exploding with activity, men of Nyuki now had the defenses manned and began to repel the raiders that had encroached on their quiet City. The Admiral of the raiding men, watched the defenses being manned and noticed the four tarnsmen rising. He ordered the fleet to circle and fire off the port side catapults as the starboard ones reloaded. The battle between Raiders and those of Nyuki raged on for ahn, in the end the Raiders were forced into retreat, without a single ship. Nyuki suffered the loss of a warehouse and a portion of the docks. |
